Dangers of Styrofoam

On top of taking over 500 years to decompose and being terrible for the environment, Styrofoam is hazardous to your health! Styrofoam is made of Polystyrene, which contains Benzene and Styrene, suspected carcinogens and neurotoxins. Hot foods and liquids actually start a partial breakdown of the Styrofoam, causing some toxins to be absorbed into our bloodstream and tissue.
Side effects caused by long-term exposure to Styrene:
•Headache
•Fatigue
•Weakness
•Depression
•Hearing loss
•Peripheral neuropathy
Styrene primarily exhibits its toxicity to humans as a neurotoxin by attacking the central and peripheral nervous systems. The accumulation of these highly lipid-soluble (fat-soluble) materials in the lipid-rich tissues of the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nerves is correlated with acute or chronic functional impairment of the nervous system.
For the sake of your health, your children's health, and the environment, stop using Styrofoam!!!
